'Black Friday on a Tuesday' in downtown Escanaba

ESCANABA, MI - Escanaba residents got into the Christmas spirit Tuesday at the annual "Black Friday on a Tuesday" event.

Downtown businesses were offering amazing deals to early holiday shoppers. Santa Claus also made an appearance for the kids, and a horse and buggy and limo were available for rides.

It was all topped off by the lighting of the Chirstmas tree a tradition for about two decades.

Ed Legault, the Executive Director of the Downtown Development Authority said, "It's really geared towards getting community and family together. It's really about creating memories downtown. For many of us that are from Escanaba or grew up here we spent a lot of time downtown as young kids and its just a way to kind of continue to do that."

Tuesday's event was the kick off to several Christmas events held in downtown Escanaba, continuing with the annual Christmas Parade on December 4th.
