ESCANABA-- There were some heated moments at Bay College in Escanaba tonight as the community participated in a town hall with 1st District Congressman Jack Bergman.
People in the audience were encouraged to write down questions for Bergman before the meeting. Moderators then decided which questions would be asked. Before Bergman spoke and was questioned the moderator asked the audience to participate in a peaceful and civil manner.
Jenn Hall, a member of Forward Action Michigan says, "We're going to ask him about healthcare. We understand that he thinks that the government doesn't have a role in healthcare but we, his constitutes think differently."
Congressman Jack Bergman (R-MI) says, "It's important that people understand that the people that represent them in congress like me, are working very hard. We're working together. We're working behind the scenes, across party lines to make tough decisions for our country."
Healthcare was one of the main topics at tonight's meeting. Congressman Bergman made it clear to the audience that he plans to vote on repealing the Affordable Care Act.
Some other topics that came up tonight were veterans care, social security and EPA funding.
