MANISTIQUE – The Feeding America mobile food truck will visit Manistique on April 26, 2017 from 10 a.m. to noon. The location for pick up is the new Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, 7870W US Highway 2, Manistique, MI.
Anyone residing in Schoolcraft County may bring a cardboard box to be filled with food, no questions asked. The distribution is set up drive-through style. All cars must enter on Southtown Drive. Follow the signs. All vehicles will be direct to SMH exits after pick up.
Residents may also have a box of food delivered to their door by calling Schoolcraft County Public Transit at 341-2111 at least 24 hours in advance. The cost for delivery is $1 per box to housing complexes, and $2 per box to residential homes.

Feeding America is the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization. They feed 46 million people at risk of hunger, including 12 million children and 7 million seniors. In 2016, Feeding America West Michigan provided 24 million meals across 40 Michigan counties which equates to an estimated 492,100 people each year. Locally, the 20,000 lbs trucks help feed 400 households in Schoolcraft County monthly.
The Community Health Needs Assessment conducted in 2016 identified objectives for Schoolcraft County and one of them included partnering with agencies and volunteers to improve access to food assistance. The Feeding America West Michigan Mobile Truck has limited funds remaining for future visits.
