MARQUETTE -- Several people put on their athletic shoes tonight to help raise money for the Special Olympics.

The latest leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run started tonight in front of NMU's Superior Dome.

People had the option of walking or running.

This year they hope to raise around $1.5 million for the Special Olympics just in the State of Michigan.

Carl White is the U.P. Team Captain. He says, "You see the determination and the fun that these athletes have doing what they do and you're hooked. You're not walking away from that."

He says the torch run continues tomorrow in Escanaba.

Registration begins at 5 p.m. in the area of the Delta Plaza Mall.

Then, the Law Enforcement Torch run heads to Sault Ste. Marie on Thursday.
