MARQUETTE -- Though mother nature hasn't granted us with much snow yet this year, those at Marquette Mountain are making the best of the cold temperatures, and are gearing up for the season.
Jesie Melchiori, General Manager at Marquette Mountain, explained, "We started making snow yesterday about one o'clock and we are so excited for the '17-'18 season that we can hardly stand it. Snow guns are on, snow guns are running. If all goes well, we're going to try really really hard to be open for this coming Saturday. Fingers crossed. But, if not, we will be open starting the 14th. We will start night skiing, the whole 9 yards."
And while the Mountain is celebrating 60 years of winter seasons, their next door neighbors, the Rippling River Resort, are celebrating their first.
Joanna Emigh, Rippling River Resort Campground Manager, shared, "We've got 14 cabins that are open all season long. They're really cute and quaint. They've got their own bathroom and bedroom, just a really cool spot where you can ski in and ski out from Marquette Mountain."
Melchiori says, "We're going to run the River Chair Lift different hours than we have in the past, giving people that opportunity to leave their cabin, jump right on the lift, and go skiing."
But those staying in the cabins aren't limited to just skiing...
With lots of luxuries and a scenic location, there's plenty to offer guests this winter.
Emigh added, "So, we've got a lot of opportunities for people to do recreational activities right from the cabins. Not only do we have Marquette Mountain right next door but we also do rent snowshoes. And then there's trails that you can access. The Noquemanon Trails are right by us, and we're not too far from cross country skiing."
