At approximately 9:20 a.m., a Michigan State Police trooper from the Negaunee Post was dispatched to an address on Midway Drive on a well-being check.

The Negaunee Post had received a call from a local business advising that an employee had not showed up for work today and they were unable to make contact with her.

Troopers were advised that this was highly unusual for the employee to miss work and not contact her employer.

Upon arrival at the employee’s residence, the trooper found the 52-year-old woman laying in the snow near her garage.

The woman had fallen in the snow and was stuck between her garage and a large snow bank. It was determined that the woman had been trapped in the snow for approximately 2 hours and was suffering from exposure to the extreme cold.

The trooper carried the woman into her residence, covered her with blankets and requested EMS. She was transported to UPHS-Marquette for medical treatment.
