Negaunee, Mi - There is no question this year's version of the Negaunee Miners girls basketball team is a special group.

Negaunee is currently sitting a top the Mid-Pen Conference with a a perfect 10-0 overall record.

The team has exceptional talent at every position on the court and boasts one of the best, if not the best back court in all of girls high school basketball.

The team has big goals the season but is taking it one game at a time.

I caught up with the Miners this afternoon as they prepare for their next test, the Gwinn Modeltowners.

"They're a young team, yet they're a veteran team because a lot of those girls have been playing. So we're accustomed to who they are and what they can do. They have an inside presence with Tierra Taylor and some pretty athletic guards with some pretty good shooters. So, we've got to plan to shut down some of the things they do well. So hopefully that proves well for us on Thursday," said Brandon Sager, The Negaunee girls head basketball coach.

Gwinn has a chance to get a season defining win against the Miners. The game between Gwinn and Negaunee tips off Thursday night at 7:30 pm est.
