Marquette, MI - The last time the Northern Michigan Wildcat football team beat the Michigan Tech Huskies? September 19 of 2009.

Since then the Huskies have won 7 straight against the Wildcats. The last 3 matchups have been close, NMU losing by a combined 8 points.

Last season, the Wildcats took the Huskies to overtime, falling by a score of 45-51.

For first year head coach Kyle Nystrom, none of that matters.

Kyle Nystrom,  Northern Michigan's Head Football Coach said, "What's happened here in the past has nothing to do with our staff, or me being here, or the players who are here with us right now. Even though they were here, it's still a new dynamic when you bring in a new staff and, you know, a new culture. So, what's happened in the past is that. They're good. They're a good football team. They've mastered their craft. You know, they make the box bloody, so, it's going to be a war on Saturday."

The Wildcats and Huskies are seet to kickoff at 7pm est/6pm ct this Saturday at Sherman Field in Houghton.
