ABOUT ME:

Ivy grew up in Kansas City, MO, where she knew she was always interested in TV news and journalism, and where she eventually found out she loved it as a career.

Ivy got her start in her broadcast journalism class at Park Hill South High School, where she eventually ended up anchoring the “South Side Scoop,” her school’s daily 5-minute live newscast, several times a week. Ivy also got the opportunity to travel to Seattle, WA, her senior year for the Student Television Network National Convention and Competition.

Ivy thought broadcast was just a hobby for her, until the summer right before college where she finally realized she didn’t want to leave it behind. As a last-minute decision, she stayed in KC to do a year of community college so she could apply to a good broadcast journalism program. Still entranced with the Pacific Northwest, Ivy moved to Pullman, WA to attend Washington State University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media Production from the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication. Here, she participated in Murrow News 8, and was a DJ, HR Director, and Interim GM for KUGR College Radio.

Ivy is excited to have just moved to the Upper Peninsula for her first job after college and feels lucky to be able to do exactly what she loves and call it “work.” She is looking forward to getting to know the people up here in the U.P. and sharing their stories.

In her free time, Ivy loves watching new TV shows and movies, hanging out with her boyfriend, Josh, and her miniature poodle, Obee, cooking, doing word searches, and exploring local businesses.
