James Fillmore is really excited to be living and working in the Upper Peninsula. He’s from Grand Rapids and graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in journalism and broadcasting.

James comes to WJMN Local 3 with more than seven years of experience. His first job after college was as a morning news anchor at WJFW in Rhinelander, WI. Then, he moved to WICD in Champaign, IL where he worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor.

His most recent job was at WSBT in South Bend, IN. James worked mainly as a reporter but also had the chance to fill-in at the anchor desk. The station covered some areas of Michigan, so James became very familiar with Benton Harbor, Dowagiac, Niles and other parts of southwestern Michigan.

In his spare time, James enjoys being active. When he’s not at the gym, you may find him hiking up Sugarloaf Mountain or running along Lake Superior. He actually likes the snow! So, in the winter he’ll be putting his downhill and cross country skis to good use.

James also really enjoys traveling. He’s been to almost all of the U.S. states. Plus, he’s traveled to Africa, Europe, South America and the Caribbean. If you ever have any travel suggestions he’d love to hear about it!

James came to Marquette because he wants to be here. He looks forward to getting involved in the community, volunteering and participating in local events. You may even get to meet his dog, Luigi.

If you ever see James and Luigi – don’t be shy! They enjoy meeting new people so be sure to say hello.
