ISHPEMING — The 24th annual Marquette County ‘Community Baby Shower’ was held today.
The event helps new or expectant mothers learn about resources available to them in our area. 20 local organizations were at the baby shower today to provide information and resources for the mothers and fathers of newborn or soon to be born babies.
Around 150 people attended the baby shower today. Each mother that attends the event leaves with a tote bag of freebies, gifts, hand-knit blankets and hats, and two packages of diapers; all of which was donated by Marquette County community members.
“Some folks don’t always have a shower and it’s a festive and exciting atmosphere. So, we invite them all to come to a shower to celebrate their baby and then we invite all of the organizations in Marquette County that help serve people that have young babies,” says Barbie Dupras, Organizer and Community Baby Shower Committee Member.
Organizers are already accepting donations for next year’s shower. Monetary donations are accepted. Checks can be made out to “CAAM” for the ‘Community Baby Shower’.
Any questions about making donations or where to bring donations call CAAM at (906)228-6522. They will direct your call from there.
