Where in Michigan do residents pay the least amount in taxes?
Te group “Smart Asset” is out with its top ten counties with the lowest tax burden, and three Upper Peninsula counties are on the list.
They calculated the amount of money a person would pay in income, sales, property and fuel taxes in each county in Michigan.
Luce County had the lowest tax burden in the state, with Ontonagon County having the third-lowest and Schoolcraft County having the seventh-lowest.
Since all Michigan counties pay the same income and sales tax rates, the differences are based primarily on property taxes and estimated fuel taxes.
