A telethon benefiting multiple U.P. Charities is taking place Sunday in Manistique.

The 50th Annual Community Charities-Bay Cliff-Cancer Fighting Groups, or CBC, telethon will be broadcast across Schoolcraft, Delta and Dickinson Counties. It started out as a radio-thon and a few years later became a telethon.

Jim Weber, the First Chair of CBC, says,”We’re talking about a community here of four thousand and in a county of eight thousand and somehow we pull together $50,000 year after year for these charities. I think that’s amazing.”

The telethon will be broadcast on WTIQ Radio1490 am and on Charter TV community access channels. It is always held on Palm Sunday – the Sunday prior to Easter. It’s from noon to 6pm at Manistique High School

All monies stay in Schoolcraft County and are donated there and the organizations donated to change some from year to year but always consistent with Fighting Cancer, Supporting Bay Cliff health camp and also local charities.

For the first time this year, Auction items are available for bidding all this week and during the Telethon at WWW.CBCSCHOOLCRAFT.ORG . Funds raised vary but when there was corporate matching from the local Mills they have seen as high as $50K.
