Appleton preparing for 65th annual Flag Day Parade

APPLETON (WFRV) —  Preparations for the country’s oldest Flag Day Parade are underway in Appleton.

Over 100 units, including 15 bands, will take part in the event.  This year’s theme is “65 Years of Honoring Old Glory”, and will feature veterans’ organizations, drum and bugle corps, scout troops, and other participants.  

Appleton’s Flag Day Parade starts at 2 p.m from Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Appleton.  Local 5 has been broadcasting the event since 1996.  The parade will be shown at 10:35 p.m. Saturday, after Local 5’s 10 p.m. newscast.
