MARQUETTE – The Beacon House was the recipient of a special check this morning, helping fund its new “Legacy of Love” campaign.

Board members and staff from the Beacon House were at the new location for the hospitality house, next door to the where the new UPHS-Marquette hospital is being built. River Valley Bank was also there- to present a $100,000 check to the Beacon House, representing their five-year pledge to the campaign.

“It’s the kick-start of our actual capital campaign,” said Mary Tavernini Dowling, CEO of Beacon House. “Now we have the land identified by U.P. Health System. Brian Sinotte was here and we staked our claim with him to land right next to the new hospital. It’s what we’ve been hoping for, it’s what we’ve been dreaming of, it’s what all of our board members and all of our staff and so many volunteers have been working on for so long.”

To build the new facility, between four million and six million dollars will need to be raised over the next two years. The new facility is expected to contain 50 to 60 rooms.
