Benishek to attend VA town hall meetings in Marquette

U.S. Representative Dan Benishek, (R) Michigan_-1736563791825580953
Dr. Dan Benishek will be attending a Veterans Town Hall hosted by the Oscar G. Johnson Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marquette.

At the event, Dr. Benishek will provide an update to veterans on his work as the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Veterans Health. He will be at the meeting at 4:00 P.M. at Northern Michigan University’s Jamrich Hall (room 1313).

Upper Michigan veterans can learn more about VA services at town hall meetings this week.

VA benefit town hall sessions are set for Marquette and Ishpeming this week. Former service members and their families can learn about services, eligibility requirements, claims processing and more.

“What we find, is after the town halls, there’s a lot of one-on-one discussion,” said Brad Nelson, with the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center. “Or if there’s issues that people need to resolve that’s their specific issue, we’re there. We tend to get things them back to the applicable offices usually within a week, trying to resolve those. It’s a chance for people to have some of their issues resolved if there’s anything possible that we can do to resolve them.”

The veteran town hall sessions are scheduled for Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at the Ishpeming Armory and at 4:00 P.M. at Northern Michigan University’s Jamrich Hall.
