Crews searching for missing snowmobiler

MARQUETTE COUNTY– The Marquette County Sheriff’s Special Operations Division and Search and Rescue are searching for 54-year-old Dennis Frederick Pellinen of Ishpeming who had left his secondary residence on County Road 444 in McFarland in Sounthern Marquette County, near the Delta County line, Sunday evening on a snowmobile and has not returned home.

The missing person call came in around 4:4- p.m. yesterday from family members who live across the street from his secondary residence in McFarland.

Family members report that Pellinen left his home on County Road 444 around 6:00 p.m. Sunday on a snowmobile. He has not been seen since and did not show up for work on Monday.

Pellinen was driving a blue and gray colored 2003 SRX Yamaha snowmobile. He was wearing a black Carhart jacket. It is believed that he was not wearing a helmet when he left on his snowmobile.

Special Operations, Search and Rescue and other deputies searched the area on snowmobiles and ATV’s The search was suspended for the night around 1:00 a.m. today.

Special Operations, Search and Rescue and other deputies and the Michigan State Police have resumed the search this morning in the daylight.

Delta County Search and Rescue is also participating in the search.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information on Pellinen’s whereabouts to call Central Dispatch at 475-9912.
