ISHPEMING – ] Partridge Creek Farm, a non-profit organization in Ishpeming, is hosting its annual Earth Day Event Monday, April 22.
This fun volunteer opportunity kicks off at 3:00 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Ishpeming. For the first hour attendees will be encouraged to enjoy a small health fair, snacks and great company.
At 4:00 p.m., there will be a small presentation from Partridge Creek, Taste the Local Difference and others. After the presentation, volunteers will head to the garden site to plant a large assortment of berries.
This site will add to the four already-established sites in the Ishpeming area that the organization has added to the community, with a mission to improve access to fresh local produce, build a healthy community, and promote education on sustainable food systems.
The berry site is located at the Ishpeming Elks Lodge on 597 Lakeshore Drive, Ishpeming.
The planting of the berries will be led by many, including Abbey Palmer, the MSU North Farm Education Coordinator.
Participating organizations of the health fair include MARESA’s SNAPEducation program, Taste the Local Difference, MSU UPREC, Carlee Wasik of MSU Extension with information on programs including Tai Chi, stress less programs and many more.
There will also be snacks, donated by various organizations, available for participants.
