MARQUETTE — A milestone was reached this morning at the future site of the new Marquette Municipal Service Center.

The city of Marquette, Gundlach Champion, and members of the Ironworkers Local 8 celebrated the placing of the final steel beam on the structure this morning. As part of a steel worker tradition, there was the signing of the last steel beam.

Brian Lassila of Gundlach Champion shared, “For me and my crew, we started off late on this project and these Local 8 Ironworkers came together to get this project back together on time and budget.”

The new Municipal Service Center is scheduled to open next fall.

The new Duke Lifepoint Hospital is being built at the site of the previous MSC.
