MARQUETTE– People danced the night away at Marquette Mountain tonight to raise money for an upcoming festival.
U.P. Pride Fest is September 16th at Tourist Park. The dance tonight is one way the organization Upper Peninsula Rainbow Pride raises money for the event. There was drinks, raffles and shirts to purchase all to help out the cause.
David Shew, U.P. Rainbow Pride chairperson says, “Gay pride is fun and is just a good place to be able to be open about who you are and to meet other people and to just be involved in the community and know that there is other people like you. To know that you’re okay.”
The organization says anyone can attend the festival in September. Allies and friends of the LGBT community are all welcome.
