MARQUETTE — Brookridge Heights announced today the start of a partnership with Girl Scout Troop 5101
based out of Harvey. Girl Scout Troop 5101 is a senior troop consisting of students in the ninth grade. The
partnership will enable the girls to interact with residents at Brookridge Heights engaging in projects and crafts
together.

Over the past several months, the girls have been sending greeting cards to residents to provide cheer
and support. Several additional projects are in the planning stages to involve both the residents of Brookridge
Heights and the troop.

“We have a fantastic group of girls that just really want to give back to their community,” said Mary Vertanen, Troop 5101 Leader. “The girls are excited to interact with Brookridge residents and we are looking forward to doing more projects together.”

“Bringing together seniors and youth is so important for the well being of our residents,” said Neal Crothers,
Executive Director for Brookridge Heights.” “Our residents have tremendous life experiences that they can share with a younger generation. This is a win-win for both the troop and our residents and we’re very thankful for the Girl Scouts willingness to build upon our partnership.”
