APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – A former Hortonville official has been formally charged for allegedly possessing child pornography. 

On Wednesday, an Outagamie County judge set bond at $75,000 for Patrick Vaile, and ruled that he can’t have any unsupervised contact with children under 18.  

Vaile is charged with 16 counts of possessing child pornography and state prosecutors say that number could increase. The charges can land Vaile in prison for 400 years.

The judge also ruled that he can’t leave the state of Wisconsin and that Vaile should not have any access to computers or devices that can be hooked up to the internet. 

Vaile was originally arrested on Tuesday night.

HORTONVILLE, Wis. (WFRV) – Hortonville Village Administrator Patrick Vaile is in jail for allegedly possessing child pornography.

According to Outagamie County jail records, Vaile was arrested Tuesday night by deputies from the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office and was booked on ten charges of possession of child pornography.

The case will be prosecuted by the Wisconsin Department of Justice. 

Hortonville residents were caught off guard buy the arrest, and many who spoke with Local 5 say he was thought of highly within the community.

Vaile held the position of village administrator for nearly four years. Vaile has also worked in Idaho and Missouri before working in Hortonville. 

Now that he’s no longer the village administrator his duties have been divided up between the department heads and village president.

Village officials learned of his arrest Tuesday evening, but will not say if any village computers were used to look up child pornography.
