Green Bay, Wis. (WFRV) – Green Bay local Brennan Heider competes as a finalist in the National Disability Institute’s My American Dream video contest.

A sophomore at Preble High School, Brennan said that he was shy growing up.

“In elementary school, I was kind of push to the outside,” Brennan said. “People didn’t really want to do anything with me. They never knew what to say to me and I never really spoke up.”

It was only once he turned to the stage, that his confidence grew.

“I just realized that I had this voice and I wanted to share it with everyone.”

Brennan is one of five finalist chosen to compete in the final round of competition.

This is the third year of the non profit’s competition. According to its website, “NDI is dedicated to building a better economic future for people with disabilities.”

The winner will receive $1,000, a tablet and a mentor.
