Brookridge Heights Assisted Living and Memory Care announced today a fundraising campaign focused on raising awareness and funds for the Life Tracker program offered by Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Marquette County (RSVP).

During the month of February, Brookridge Heights employees will be participating in Casual for a Cause, which allows employees to pay one dollar to wear jeans for the day. The monies raised during Casual for a Cause will be donated to RSVP to help cover the monthly fee associated with Life Tracker bracelets for those in need.

“At Brookridge Heights, we understand that those with Alzheimer’s or Dementia may wander and become confused,” said Neal Crothers, CEO, Brookridge Heights. “The Life Tracker program can provide security to the individual, caregivers and their families. It’s a great service that is being offered and we are proud to support it.”

Since 1986, Life Tracker has been used to save over 1,800 wanderers nationwide. Life Tracker bracelets are worn all the time and come equipped with tracking devices, enabling those who wander to be tracked and located quickly by search and rescue teams and volunteers.

“In the past twenty years, ten people in Marquette County have gone missing and have never been found. We are proud to offer this service in our county for those who may wander; including those with Alzheimer’s, but also autism, and traumatic brain injuries,” said Julie Shaw, Aging Services and RSVP Director. “This program is for all ages. The dollars raised by the staff at Brookridge allow us to continue to offer a program where no one is ever turned down. We are so appreciative.”

Partners in the Life Tracker Program include RSVP of Marquette County, TRIAD of Marquette County, Marquette County Sheriff Department, Hiawatha Amateur Radio Association and the Alzheimer’s Association.
