Escanaba business helping victims of domestic violence…one cupcake at at time

ESCANABA — ‘For the Love of Cupcakes’, a cupcake shop on Ludington Street in Escanaba, hosted a sale today where all profits went directly to the Tri-County Safe Harbor house.

No matter what the sweet treat, every cent earned will help local survivors of domestic violence. And what better time to host the event than during Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

That’s why the choice for a donation day was an easy one for Kelli Van Ginhoven, owner of ‘For the Love of Cupcakes’.

“Domestic violence is something that I think a lot of people have to deal with that we may or may not know. I think that sexual assault is something that obviously has been in the news lately. So if we can help victims, children, become advocates about this…then it’s a great cause and I’m willing to help any way that I can,” Kelly said.

Though the sale went from 10 until 4 on Wednesday, you can still donate to the Tri-County Safe Harbor house. They take monetary donations as well as particular items. Click here to learn more.
