State Rep. Beau LaFave of Iron Mountain announced that Escanaba Upper Elementary School has won Delta Dental’s National Reading Month photo contest.

The school is one of four in the state that will receive a $500 grant to purchase books for the school’s media center.

The photo attached to this story is when Rep. LaFave read “What If You Had Animal Teeth?” to students at Escanaba Upper Elementary School during his March Is Reading Month tour.

LaFave visits schools yearly to promote children’s literacy while also encouraging young people to read.

Delta Denta’s photo contest promotes good oral health and daily reading by sharing tote bags with classrooms each year.
