HOUGHTON COUNTY — Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital and Clinics proudly welcomes certified Family Nurse Practitioner Robin Meneguzzo, FNP, to its family medicine team.

Meneguzzo specializes in comprehensive care for the whole family, and she has special clinical interests in functional medicine, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, and advanced care planning. She is now accepting patients at Aspirus clinic locations in Houghton and Laurium.

Meneguzzo is originally from Hancock, and she is a familiar face in the community and at Aspirus. She previously worked as a dialysis technician at then Portage Health for three years and as a registered nurse in the medical-surgical unit at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital for three years.

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Finlandia University and her Master of Science in Nursing from University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Professional memberships include: Institute of Functional Medicine, Seeking Health Educational Institute, Integrative Medicine for the Underserved, and American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

Meneguzzo said it was her own personal battle with health problems that initially inspired her to practice medicine. While working as a dialysis technician alongside nurses, she discovered her true passion was caring for people of all ages in all aspects of health.

Her philosophy of care is to be a partner in each of her patient’s treatment and care plans, while also keeping in mind emotional components that need to be addressed.

“I see myself on an even playing field as my patients where I’m focused on providing the best care to help them feel better sooner,” she said. “A lot of times that involves emotional pieces as well so I really focus on the whole patient.”

Meneguzzo is currently working toward certification in functional medicine and she is looking forward to expanding that service for patients at Aspirus. Functional medicine is an approach to care that is individualized, patient-centered and it empowers patients and practitioners to work together to address the underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness.

To get to the root cause of disease, functional medicine relies on a detailed understanding of each patient’s genetic, biochemical, and lifestyle factors. Each patient’s unique data is what directs their personalized treatment plans for the best outcomes.
