ISHPEMING — Hot chili and some unique auction items were all part of the Harvest Festival at the Ishpeming Salvation Army.
Many of the auction items were donated by businesses. Some were handmade by people in the Upper Peninsula..
The fundraisers kick off the Salvation Army’s holiday effort to provide a free meal for people on Thanksgiving and presents for kids during Christmas.
Captain Doug Winters says, “I’ve not been in a community that is this generous. It’s just amazing. The people that are stepping up they know they’re helping other people by doing it and so they know it’s for a worthy cause. So, there’s just a lot of spirit of love in this community.”
There will be a craft show at the Salvation Army in Marquette on Saturday November 19th from nine to two.
