Marquette man arrested for stealing vehicle, other items

MARQUETTE – A Marquette man is in custody after police say he stole a vehicle and other property from a home in Lake Superior Village.

According to the Marquette City Police Department officers were dispatched to Lake Superior Village for a report of a stolen vehicle on December 17, 2017 at approximately 9:20 AM. The victim told police that additional property was also stolen from inside the house. 

At around noon that day Marquette Police Officers stopped the stolen vehicle on E. Crescent Street. The vehicle was driven by 37-year-old Joseph John Manning of Marquette. Manning was arrested for Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile, Driving While License Suspended and Larceny in a Building. The stolen property was later recovered at Manning’s house.

Manning has been lodged in the Marquette County Jail, pending charges from the Marquette County Prosecutor’s Office. Unlawful Driving Away of a Motor Vehicle is a 5 year Felony, Larceny in a Building is a 4 year Felony and Driving While License Suspended is a 93 day Misdemeanor.
