MUNISING — Though it’s been a project in the making for about 5 years, Munising Art in the Alley was completed this week.

Located just off of M-28 on Elm Avenue, the Art in the Alley display showcases more than 75 pieces done by local artists.

Kathy Reynolds, the Executive Director of the Munising DDA, explained, “Alger County residents submitted the art. It’s photography, oils and acrylics, quilting, really we took any piece of art that they could digitally reproduce.”

Reynolds also mentioned the green space, which was made possible by a conservation crew who helped clean up the alley. The alley also has cafe lighting that turns on from dusk to dawn.

“We’ve got two gateway installation pieces that are art pieces that are made of aluminum – several hundred pounds at either end. Tile art…just a lot of of different components. So, we’re constantly adding different aspects to it – and we’re also already looking at a second phase next year on a different alley,” Reynolds said.
