MARQUETTE, Mich. (WJMN) – Keeping safety in mind due to colder temperatures and wind causing stronger waves, the City of Marquette continues to monitor public beaches and issue safety guidance accordingly.
Updated 11:00 a.m. Saturday: As of 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, City of Marquette beaches have reopened and lifeguards will resume normal hours.
Updated Friday: Beaches are closed for the day on Friday. Lifeguards will not be on duty during this time.
After reopening Thursday morning, they were again rendered not safe at 5:30 Thursday evening.
Updated 10:30 a.m. Thursday – The City of Marquette Beaches will be reopening as of 11:00 a.m. Thursday. Lifeguards will resume normal hours.
Updated 3:44 p.m. Wednesday: City of Marquette beaches are closed the rest of the day on Wednesday, June 1st, due to wind and cold air temperatures.
Lifeguards will not be on duty during this time.
The Marquette City Fire Department is expected to provide updated information on Thursday morning, whether beaches will reopen or remain closed.
