CRYSTAL FALLS, MI – Some new details regarding the death of Christopher Carl Regan were unveiled as Kelly Cochran stood trial for her preliminary hearing. A total of 11 witnesses were called to the stand, ranging from neighbors to police investigators. Pieces of evidence that were used in today’s trial included cell phone records, hard drive extractions of Kelly and Jason Cochran’s computer, and an Odontology report.

“There was a skull, a human skull, with some foreign material and a couple of bones that looked to be human and a fragment of the skull,” said Dr. David Yonger, Physician.

“During my search, I discovered a barrel and a receiver to a Marlin model 60 .22 caliber long rifle,” said Austin Helsin, MSP dive team.

“So it’s just the barrel and receiver?” asked Melissa Powell, Iron County Prosecutor.

“Yes, ma’am,” said Helsin.

At times, Cochran looked unfazed as witnesses announced their claims. It wasn’t until Iron River Police Chief Laura Frizzo went into a detailed account of a phone call her and Cochran shared, that Cochran became emotional.

Frizzo then went into detail explaining how both Jason and Kelly Cochran dismembered Regan’s body.

“We found a blade for a reciprocating saw,” said Frizzo. “We found components from a pair of old navy jeans, we found the zipper and the button. We also found what appeared to be garments from a pair of shoes.”

Chief Frizzo also revealed how Cochran wanted her to prepare a type of document that would spare her from being charged for being involved with killing Chris Regan.

Cochran is next expected to be in court on September 27th with a detective from Indiana to stand trial. Cochran has been charged under Indiana State Law with the death of her husband Jason Cochran.
