MUNISING– As part of her Small Business Tour across Michigan, U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow Stopped at three local businesses in Munising tonight. The Senator’s stops included VanLandshoot and Sons Fish Market, Muldoons Pasties and Pictured Rocks Cruises.

Sen. Debbie Stabenow says, “To have an opportunity to celebrate what small business are doing. Over half of the jobs in Michigan are being created by small businesses and I’m also listening to what their concerns are , the opportunities. As a result of the tour I’ve been doing around for instance, the top issue I’ve heard about is workforce. People needing to match up employees with the types and skills and jobs that they have.”

As part of a week long workforce discussion across the state, Stabenow has been holding roundtables on how Michigan can better fill the demand for skilled workers in the state and provide professional career and training opportunities for students who don’t choose a four-year college path after high school or workers who want to be retrained for new jobs.

She plans on using these discussions as feedback when she reintroduces her workforce legislation in the fall.

She will be at the Northern Michigan University Jacobetti Complex tomorrow evening to continue the discussion.
