Tri-DENT  (Luce, Chippewa and Mackinac County Drug Enforcement Taskforce) concluded an investigation Thursday afternoon that resulted in three arrests…and 31 drug-related charges.
 
Detectives suspected a group of running Meth labs in the Sault Ste. Marie area. Detectives investigated this information and spent many hours running surveillance which resulted in the arrest of:
 
1) Brandon James Ballas (26) Sault Ste. Marie resident
a. 8 counts, all 20 year Felony Meth/Meth Lab charges
b. 1 count Maintaining a Drug House
 
2)  Joseph Peter Ballas (62) Sault Ste. Marie resident
a. 12 counts, all 20-25 year Felony Meth/Meth Lab charges
b. 1 count Maintaining a Drug House
 
3)  Brittany Lee Johnson (19)
a. 8 counts, all 20 year Felony Meth/ Meth Lab charges
b. 1 count Maintaining a Drug House
 
A search warrant was conducted at the Sault residence resulting in Meth lab components, hazardous waste, meth making ingredients, along with other evidence, leading investigators to believe multiple meth labs had been conducted at this residence.
 
Sault Ste. Marie Police Department assisted Tri-Dent detectives with the arrest of all three suspects. All three suspects are scheduled to be arraigned in 91st District Court.
