UPPER PENINSULA — The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing millions of dollars to repair roads in the Upper Peninsula. Here is a list of upcoming projects to be aware of:

  • $1.6 million to chip seal 17 miles of US-41 from north of First Street in Mohawk to north of Lac La Belle Road in Keweenaw County. The work includes crack sealing, gravel shoulder repair and pavement markings.
    • Starting: Monday, May 13, 2019 — Ending: Friday, July 19, 2019
    • The project will require single-lane closures under flag control.
  • $660,000 to chip seal 6.3 miles of M-95 from south of Marquette County Road LLK to US-41 in Marquette County. The work includes crack sealing, gravel shoulder repair and pavement markings.
    • Starting: Monday, May 13, 2019 — Ending: Friday, July 19, 2019
    • The project will require single-lane closures under flag control.
  • $2 million to chip seal 21 miles of US-45 from the Gogebic/Ontonagon county line to the Baltimore River in Ontonagon County. The work includes crack sealing, gravel shoulder repair and pavement markings.
    • Starting: Monday, May 13, 2019 — Ending: Friday, Aug. 23, 2019
    • The project will require single-lane closures under flag control.

MDOT says all projects involve “sealing the existing pavement, which will reduce further pavement cracking while also providing increased surface friction. Gravel shoulder repairs will increase safety and improve drainage.”
