GLADSTONE — With a main building in Escanaba, and a branch in Iron Mountain, the Upper Peninsula State Bank held a ground breaking today for a third location in Gladstone.
The building is set to go up on Lowrie Street, right next to the Mobil gas station.
Members of bank said that though it’s been a long project, they’re excited to serve the Gladstone community.
David Williams, CEO of Upper Peninsula State Bank, said, “We have so many customers in the Gladstone community already, that have always asked us ‘When are you going to come to Gladstone? When are you going to be in Gladstone?’ And, all of our competitors are in both markets for the most part. So for us, it’s just a natural progression of the growth of our safe and solid bank to come into Gladstone and to be there for that base that is already banking with us. And, to be there for that base that may want to join us, and become customers of our bank.”
The building will be about 5,000 square feet, and will resemble the main office in Escanaba.
Construction on the site begins tomorrow. If all goes to plan, the bank will open before the end of this year.
