DELTA COUNTY– Around 6:00pm yesterday, a Delta County Sheriff Deputy was dispatched to Escanaba Township for a stolen vehicle complaint. The owner of the vehicle advised that her vehicle had just been stolen and was last seen heading northbound on M-35.
Around 7:30pm, a Deputy located the stolen vehicle traveling in the Boney Falls area. A pursuit ensued southbound on County Road 426 towards the Carols Corner area. A Deputy was stationed at Carols Corner where he successfully deployed “stop sticks”. The “stop sticks” caused both driver’s side tires to gradually deflate.
The driver continued traveling eastbound on County Road 420 where both drivers side tires came off of the rim. The driver then failed to negotiate the curve at the top of South Hill Road and drove off the roadway into the “ bowl area”. The driver then crossed over South Hill Road entering the ditch before being able to enter back onto South Hill Road. The driver then lost control and went into the ditch at South Hill Road and US2-41, ending the pursuit.
The 37 year old male subject was lodged at the Delta County Correctional Facility for unlawfully driving away and automobile and Flee and Elude.
