MISSISSIPPI – One of the soldiers killed in Monday’s Marine Corps plane crash in Mississippi has Upper Peninsula ties.

Governor Rick Snyder confirmed the death of Julian Kevianne in a statement released this afternoon.

Snyder said “Michigan is grieving with the nation over the terrible tragedy that claimed the lives of 16 Marines, including Detroit native Julian Kevianne.”

According to the Radio Results Network and his Facebook page, Kevianne attended Michigan Tech University and went to Detroit High School for the Fine and Performing Arts. The investigation into the deadly crash is continuing.
