ESCANABA– With over 200 stores spread throughout the Midwest, Meijer supercenters has crossed the bridge with the grand opening of two stores. One in Salt Ste. Marie and the other in Escanaba.
Rick Keyes, Meijer President and CEO says, “Well we couldn’t be more excited. It’s a long time coming for us to cross the bridge. To make it into the U.P. is a very exciting event for Meijer.”
The opening of the store is not only exciting for Meijer, but to the Escanaba community as well.
Marc Tall, Mayor of Escanaba says, “I’ve been waiting for this day for about two years, since we first heard Meijer was coming to town. This is a great place and the aisles are wide, the customer service is wonderful at Meijer stores. We’re happy that they’re here. A part of Escanaba.”
Meijer isn’t your typical grocery store. As a supercenter, they also offer general merchandise such as clothing, home goods, school supplies, sports and camping gear, as well as a garden center, 24 hour gas station and a pharmacy with a drive thru pick up.
Jeff kietzman, Escanaba Meijer store director says, “We’re a store you can get just about anything you need… anytime, any day.”
Meijer plans on continuing to grow in the U.P.
Rick Keyes says, “And next year we’re going to be opening in Marquette. And so that’s another exciting event for us.”
