Missing fisherman in Chippewa County

CHIPPEWA COUNTY– Michigan State Police Sault Ste. Marie Post troopers were dispatched to a missing fisherman near Pendills Creek, Bay Mills Twp., Chippewa County on 04/15/2019, at approximately 10:50pm for a reported missing fisherman. The man’s body was recovered this morning in Pendills Bay.

The investigation revealed the fisherman, a 64-year-old male of Trout Lake, Michigan may have fallen through the ice. The area where the fisherman was known to fish was searched and some of his property was located. The search is ongoing and is being coordinated by the U.S. Coast Guard and Michigan State Police.

Troopers were assisted on scene by the United States Coast Guard, United State Border Patrol, Bay Mills Police Department, Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department, Bay Mills Fire Department and Superior Township Fire Department.


The United States Coast Guard located the lost subject earlier this date. With the recovery, the USCG has assumed the role as lead investigators in this incident.
