MARQUETTE — Northern Michigan University held a Gender Fair today. On-Campus organizations as well as organizations from Marquette County set up booths to educate both students and community members on gender awareness.
The fair was hosted by NMU’s Gender and Sexuality Studies program. They say they are working to create and enhance diversity on NMU’s campus.
“We want all of these groups to have a voice and some of the students at Northern don’t necessarily know about what some of these organizations do or that they even exist and so we want them to know that there are more resources outside of Northern,” says Dr. Rebecca Ulland, Director of the Gender and Sexuality Studies Program at NMU.
For the duration of the event today, the first floor bathrooms of Jamrich Hall were labeled as gender neutral.
