MARQUETTE – Police are encouraging people to keep their sidewalks and driveways clear of snow, but to not only be considerate of where they put the snow, but to abide by the law.

It is against city ordinance to throw snow into the street.

“We’re all trying to manage that snow,” said Blake Rieboldt, Police Chief of Marquette City Police Department. “City crews are working on and off, day and night, dealing with snowbanks and cutting back intersections. We just ask people to be patient as we all work through the significant snow we’re getting and maybe receiving here in the future.”

Police are also reminding residents the Winter Parking Ban is still in effect and will run through April 1. And, if you haven’t already, keep fire hydrants near your home clear of snow.
