A local labor attorney is weighing in on a growing national debate over Facebook.
Employers asking for potential employees’ social media passwords during a job interview has sparked controversy and outrage.
Many believe that information should be private. Attorney Bruce Deadman tells Local 5 it is not against the law to ask for a password but what the potential employer finds out about you could find them defending their position if they decide not to hire you.
That is because information such as marital status and age are off limits during a job interview.
Attorney Bruce Deadman suggests everyone consider whatever they put on Facebook or Twitter to be public, even if you keep your profiles private.
