Several road work projects to start in Marquette, one postponed

FRONT STREET CONSTRUCTION CLOSURE POSTPONED TO SEPT. 11 The planned Front Street closure is postponed to Tuesday, Sept. 11. Front Street will be closed to through traffic between Park Street and Magnetic Street, due to a water line repair on Tuesday, Sept. 11. This closure will begin at 7:30 a.m. and continue until the repair is completed. Estimated completion time is unavailable. Water disruption will be minimal.

…the following projects will continue as planned:

LINCOLN AVENUE CLOSURE (COLLEGE AVENUE TO FAIR AVENUE)  SEP. 10

Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, Sep. 10, Oberstar, Inc. will be replacing curb on Lincoln Avenue from College Avenue to Fair Avenue. In addition, storm water-related work will be in progress just south of the Fair Avenue intersection. This work is the prerequisite for the milling and overlaying for this street. This work will be done with a three-day road closure and the public is urged to use extreme caution and follow all warning signs and other traffic control measures. Additional announcements will be forthcoming for mill and overlay activities.

EAST BARAGA CONSTRUCTION TO BEGIN SEP. 10

Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, Sep. 10, the East Baraga Avenue construction project will begin. Access east of Lakeshore Boulevard will be maintained throughout the duration of the project. There will be times when Lakeshore Boulevard will be closed to through traffic to allow for utility construction. Updates will be given when those circumstances happen.

This project is expected to last four weeks. Hebert Construction is the general contractor for this project

PROSPECT STREET DISRUPTIONS AND CLOSURES BEGINNING SEP. 11

Beginning at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Sep. 11, Oberstar, Inc. will be removing partial sections of curbing, replacing water main/services, and proceeding with sanitary sewer lateral replacements on Prospect Street, from Fourth Street to Third Street.

This work is the prerequisite for the milling and overlaying for this street. This work will begin with a three-day road closure and then proceed with intermediate road closures. The public is urged to use extreme caution and follow all warning signs, lane shifts, and other traffic control measures.

The work is expected to last two weeks for this phase of the project. Additional announcements will be forthcoming for mill and overlay activities.
