Snowmobile accident sends one to hospital

ONTONAGON COUNTY – One person was hospitalized after a car/snowmobile accident Friday afternoon.  

The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to a motor vehicle/snowmobile accident at the intersection of Gem Hill Rd. and Trail #8.

They are reporting that an 2013 Arctic Cat snowmobile driven by Gene Zettler of New Richmond, WI. was traveling on trail #8 when he ran through the stop sign at the intersection of Gem Hill Rd. and struck a vehicle driving through the intersection.

The impact caused the car to spin 180 degrees and strike the back of the snowmobile. The impact caused injuries to Zettler. He was transported by Sonco ambulance to Aspirus Grand View and later air lifted to Aspirus Wausau for a serious leg injury.
