Three-car accident stops traffic on M-28 in Chocolay Township

CHOCOLAY TWP. – A three-car accident stopped traffic in both directions on M-28 in Chocolay Township Tuesday morning.

According to eye witnesses, the accident happened around 10:30 AM. An SUV was attempting to turn left off of M-28 when it was rear-ended by an Astro UP Building Products truck. The SUV slid across the centerline and into oncoming traffic where it was hit by an oncoming SUV.

The jaws of life reportedly had to be used to free at least one passenger and while injuries were sustained, there is no official word on the severity of them.

Chocolay Township and Fire responded to the scene, with assistance from the Michigan State Police. Also assisting at the scene was UPHS – EMS and Marquette Fire.
