NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP — Three people were hospitalized, including two Michigan State Troopers, for personal injury after a three vehicle crash on US-41 late Tuesday night.

The Marquette county Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a three vehicle crash near Pond Road in Negaunee Township after 19-year-old Trevor Jack Witty of Munising was passing a Dodge Charger, lost control, hit the Charger, then careened into a state police patrol vehicle.

The patrol vehicle was parked in the inside lane of traffic with its lights activated to control traffic when it was struck.

Both Michigan State Troopers as well as Witty were taken to UP Health Systems- Marquette by ambulance for medical evaluation due to complaints of neck and leg pain.

Witty was cited for violation of the basic speed law, as well as failure to exercise due caution when approaching an emergency vehicle.
