The Bib Draw banquet took place at the YMCA, today. After the opening remarks, some of the oldest participants in this storied race were introduced and honored. It was time to get down to a hearty meal, heavy on carbohydrates for tomorrow’s big event. Even though temperatures will be extremely cold, dog experts say they will do just fine as will the mushers behind them.

Tom Gustafson, Chief Veterinarian, U.P. 200 said,  “Well the cold weathers generally not a problem for these dogs, actually they run or ideal situations there going to run between ten degrees above zero to ten degrees below zero, so the temperatures really shouldn’t be a factor this weekend.”

“I’ve talked to everyone and they seem to be having a great time and we’re just happy to get it going, ” said, Pat Torreano, President of the U.P. Sled Dog Association.

Later in the banquet a drawing was held to determine the sequence of mushers at the starting line. There was also a silent auction with rows and rows of items to bid on.
