WAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP — A U.P. man was arrested Sunday after hitting a Wisconsin man with a snowmobile in Wakefield Township.

The MSP Wakefield Post says that on Sunday, January 6, around 2 a.m., troopers were dispatched to a snowmobile versus pedestrian accident. The accident occurred near the Blackjack Ski Resort.

Officers report that a 48-year-old man from Neenah, WI was struck and injured by a snowmobile driven by a 49-year-old man from Bessemer. The victim was walking up the Blackjack Road to his condominium at the top of the hill when he was hit.

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported by Beacon Ambulance to Aspirus Grand View Hospital. The victim was stabilized at Aspirus Grandview Hospital and transported to Aspirus Wausau Hospital for further treatment.

The 49-year-old Bessemer man was arrested for OPERATING WITH A HIGH B.A.C. CAUSING INJURY and DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUPSENDED.

A Michigan State Police Accident Investigator from the Iron Mountain State Police Post was called to the scene for further investigation.

Names are being withheld at this time pending arraignment.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department.
