U.P. woman sentenced for three separate crimes

Melissa Anne Paquin, 38, Hermansville,  has been sentenced to 23 months in prison. Paquin was sentenced on three separate matters including: three counts of No Account Check; Possession of Cocaine; Delivery of Suboxone. 

On September 20, 2017, Paquin was identified by detectives with UPSET for the delivery of Suboxone (buprenorphine) to subjects in the City of Escanaba.

On June 19, 2018, Paquin was identified by detectives with UPSET for the delivery of cocaine to subjects in the City of Escanaba. UPSET was assisted by Escanaba Department of Public Safety,Delta County Sheriff’s Office, MI, and K9 Jet in their investigation of Paquin. 

On June 6, 2018, officers from Escanaba Department of Public Safety received a complaint of bad checks from Elmer’s County Market. Through their investigation, officers identified Paquin as the individual who wrote and passed 10 checks when the account as closed. Officers were alerted by Michigan State Police Trooper from the Gladstone Post that additional checks were written by Paquin at other stores outside of Escanaba and stores in Menominee County at about the same time.
